Complete Digital Nomad Guide to Tinos
Why Tinos is Ideal for Remote Work
Tinos is emerging as one of the top destinations for digital nomads in Europe, especially during winter months. Unlike famous tourist islands that empty out in winter, Tinos maintains a vibrant local community year-round. This means open cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and services - everything you need for a comfortable extended stay.
The cost of living is significantly lower than major European cities. A month's stay in Tinos with all expenses costs less than one month's apartment rent in London, Paris or Amsterdam. And that includes accommodation with sea views, fast internet, and the ability to swim even in December.
Internet & Work Infrastructure
The number one concern for every digital nomad is internet. In Tinos, all our accommodations have Starlink satellite internet, ensuring high speeds even in the most remote parts of the island. Speeds are sufficient for video calls, large uploads/downloads and streaming. Starlink has proven much more reliable than traditional DSL in island areas.
Beyond home internet, there are several cafes with WiFi in Chora and Kionia where you can work. Although Tinos doesn't have traditional coworking spaces, many nomads prefer working from their home with sea views - something no London office offers.
Cost of Living & Economics
Our all-inclusive packages start from €390/month and include: private accommodation with fully equipped kitchen, Starlink internet, electricity, water, heating and cleaning. Optionally, you can add monthly car rental at special rates.
For daily expenses: a taverna meal costs €10-15, coffee €2-3, and supermarket shopping is similar to mainland Greece. Overall, you can live comfortably with €800-1200/month, including accommodation, food and entertainment.
Compared to popular nomad destinations like Lisbon or Bali, Tinos offers exceptional value - especially considering quality of life, safety, and proximity to the rest of Europe (2 hours flight from Athens to any major European city).
Weather & Lifestyle
Winter in Tinos is mild with temperatures of 12-17°C (54-63°F). Compared to Northern Europe, it is significantly warmer and sunnier. On average, there are only 7 rainy days per month in winter, and many sunny days. Several people swim even in December-January when weather permits.
The lifestyle is slow and relaxed - ideal for productive work without distractions. Mornings you can enjoy coffee with sea views, midday walk to a village or beach, and afternoons return to work refreshed. This work-life balance is priceless.
How to Get There
Tinos is connected by ferry from Piraeus and Rafina ports. The journey takes 2.5-4.5 hours depending on the vessel. There are daily routes year-round. From Athens airport, Rafina is closer (30 minutes) while Piraeus is about 1 hour away.
For international travelers, Athens airport (ATH) is directly connected to all major European cities. Low-cost flights are available from Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air. Alternatively, neighboring Mykonos has an international airport and is connected by ferry (30 minutes) to Tinos.
