Vathi – Beaches of Tinos

Vathi sits at the end of a deep, narrow inlet — essentially a natural fjord — that creates the calmest waters you'll find anywhere on Tinos. The bay is so protected that it was historically used as a safe harbor by sailing vessels.

Vathi's tavernas are among the best-kept culinary secrets on Tinos. Fresh fish, grilled to perfection, served under tamarisk trees by the water — it doesn't get more authentic. Many Athenians make the trip just for the food.

The water in Vathi's bay is almost always glass-flat, earning it a reputation as the most reliable calm-water beach on the island. Even when meltemi is howling across Tinos, Vathi remains serene and swimmable.

Getting to Vathi requires a scenic 25km drive from Chora through the island's interior. The journey passes through traditional villages and olive groves, making the destination feel like a true discovery — a reward for the curious traveler.
